The Portland Arts and Vocational Education (PAVE) Centre creates customized training classes that come along side students and provide them with the training, mentoring and hands-on experience needed to succeed in their vocation of choice.
The class offerings for the inaugural year of the PAVE Centre focus on the Hospitality sector because the tourism industry is critical to the Jamaican economy and our industry partners have highlighted the need for well trained professionals in and around Portland.
The PAVE Centre will annually review the curriculum offered in conjunction with the organizational leadership and industry partners to tailor the classes offered annually.
The PAVE Centre approach is comprised of four distinct phases within all courses offered; these phases are offered sequentially:
- Math & Reading Enchancement
- Vocational Training
- Life skills / Job skills
The duration of the class from the initial self worth module to the last job skills module is a total of eight weeks.
The first Vocational training to be offered is Hospitality.
